Discovering our new "Home!"

WELCOME to Taipei, Taiwan!
This is the view from the rooftop of our apartment building (12 stories, we live on the 3rd floor).

We are so thankful that all of our belongings arrived 2 weeks after we got here and we were able to unpack and settle in before school started!
We have been so blessed by the "Bethany" (school) community and the many ways that they have invited us into their lives.  They were so generous to celebrate our 35th birthdays with us, after only knowing us for one week!
The food is delicious, especially the dumplings ("Din Tai Fung") and there is a lot of variety, especially when it comes to anything Asian!

The kids are doing well in school, Malakai is making some great friends!

This is Malakai's walk home from school on one of the many rainy days.  So far we have had two typhoons in the last 2 months.  The rain is warm, so we just walk through the water in our flip flops, but we definitely each need our own umbrella!

Kihana is in half-day, Chinese Kindergarten and is doing really well, inspite of the language challenge.
Kihana and I ride to and from school everyday, dodging the scooters, people, dogs, bikes, cars, taxis, etc.... she is a trooper!

 Exploring the city..."Chiang Kai-sheck Memorial"

"Taipei 101", it was the tallest building in the world until 2011, when Dubai went taller!

We are so thankful for our new friends and cool treats!
Kiki and her girlfriends posing "Chinese style," (they always seem to hold up the peace sign for photos)!
We ride our bikes everywhere, all hours of the day and night...

There is a bike path along the river that goes for miles and miles that we enjoy riding on, when we are not dripping sweat or when it is not pouring rain!

Zac enjoys discovering the mountains surrounding us on his "road rides!"

Getting ready to jump in the river!  It was really fun until Malakai hit his head on a rock and had to get 3 stitches:(

Of course we always love the ocean, and are happy to get to the coast on the weekends, as much as possible, with our new friends to cool off!
