Thanksgiving Road Trip

For Thanksgiving, we had a few days off, so we decided to drive 4 1/2 hours south to explore a quaint fishing village/beach town, called Essaouira. This town is known for it's extreme winds, with the best windsurfing and kitesurfing in the country. The day we arrived, it was calm, peaceful and warm, but after two nights, we discovered the "real" Essaouira with 30 mph wind storms. We got out of there as fast as we could and spent one night in Marrakech on our way home. We were very thankful to enjoy some good, quality, family time together.

There were lots of camels everywhere, so we attempted to go for a camel ride, but the kids didn't think it was so fun and we were on and off in 5 minutes, but at least we got a picture on camels:)

The first evening, was beautiful, and we enjoyed walking into the sunset...

The next day we found some big, gnarly surf for Zac, and some fun, mellow surf for Hill. The kids had fun playing on the rocks, where these goats roam. In this part of the country, there are goats everywhere that eat the berries from the Argon trees, and then the locals make all kinds of Argon oil from the goat's poop, interesting and very special!

As we were driving we were forced to stop and let this wide load pass us by...this picture was taken through our windshield, watch out!!!

Off to Marrakech, where we found a great deal on a hotel room and enjoyed some down time as a family.

In between storms, we got a glimpse of the beautiful, newly covered, snowy Atlas mountains.
