One thing we love about this country is the local food, which includes Kefta, beef, lamb and chicken with apricots and or prunes Tajines, Couscous, Safaa, Rafisa, really yummy breads and other tasty dishes. Ironically (especially for Americans) our favorite place to eat this food is at the local gas station. This sounds very strange, but once one is here for any period of time, you realize that the best, local food is served at the gas stations. You start by going to the meat counter (where all the fresh meat is hanging), choosing what you want and how you want it cooked, then you sit down and they bring us Beber bread (bread that is cooked with stones) and Moroccan salad (which is a mixture of tomatoes, onions and tuna), then comes our hot off the grill meat. We usually finish the meal, with some hot and delicious Moroccan tea (which is made with mint leaves and sugar). Not only is the food the best at this restaurant, but the bathrooms are the nicest and cleanest, and this one particular gas station has one of the only play areas in the city. This is by far our favorite and only place that we really love to eat at, as it truly is "fun for the whole family!"
