The first day of school for Zac (who is teaching 5th grade) and Malakai (starting K4) was a huge success! Zac is really enjoying being back in the classroom, he has 24 students, 20 who are local kids, 1 American, 1 French, 1 British/Moroccan, and 1 Korean.
We have already been invited to a student's house for F'tur (which is the first meal after sundown which breaks the Ramadan fast: Ramadan is the month that Muslims fast all food and water during daylight for one whole month, thus they eat a lot during the night.)
Malakai had his first day of school in English and today was in French, he will rotate every other day! He is sooooo excited to be in school. He told me, "Mommy, I'm going to go to school and learn English and French...but I already know English..." Yesterday he came home and told me all the rules of the classroom that they learned. Also, he is in class with his best buddy, Ezra, so that is fun for him. We did have a bit of a meltdown at 5:30 pm last night, as he hasn't been able to take his 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon, so we'll see how that goes, otherwise he is overjoyed to be in school and have so many new friends to play with!
